Elementary student struck by car at bus stop, officials say

CMPD says the child was hit when a car drove around a stopped bus that had its stop arm extended.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police in east Charlotte are investigating after an elementary student was hit at a bus stop Friday morning. 

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers responded to a call of a reported accident in the 7000 block of City View Drive, just off East Independence Boulevard, around 8:30 a.m.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools officials say that the child was hit when a car drove around a stopped bus that had its stop arm extended. Police have not identified the driver of the vehicle. 

Officials say the injuries suffered by the child are not considered life-threatening. The age of the child has not been released by police.

No further details were made available.
