CMPD DWI checkpoint nets 30 charges

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police filed 30 charges at a DWI checkpoint in south Charlotte overnight Saturday.

Police set up the checkpoint from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. overnight Saturday in the 7000 block of Providence Road.

Officers filed nine DWI charges, three open containers and two drug charges, along with about a dozen other charges like no operators license and traffic violations.

Additionally, police took one wanted person into custody.
