CMPD investigating east Charlotte homicide

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police detectives are conducting a homicide investigation after a man that was assaulted in east Charlotte last year died.

According to CMPD, officers responded to a reported assault at the intersection of The Plaza and 35th Street on November 30, 2016. When they arrived on the scene, officers found Brian Fitzgerald Sherrell Faulkner, 46, lying beside a dumpster suffering from apparent trauma.

Faulkner was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment, according to CMPD. On Wednesday, detectives were notified by the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner that Faulkner had died as a result of his injuries.
