Missing elderly south Charlotte woman found

CMPD is asking for the public's help finding a missing woman that suffers from Alzheimer's.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are asking for the public’s help locating a missing elderly woman. 

According to CMPD, 72-year-old Carolyn Matthews was last seen around 7:45 p.m. Thursday at her home on Gruenewald Lane in the Park Road area in south Charlotte. 

Investigators say that Matthews suffers from Alzheimer’s and is possibly disoriented. She left her residence on foot without her phone or purse and was last seen wearing a light gray Panthers hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and gray sneakers. She is described as a white female, approximately 5-foot-7 and weighs approximately 130 pounds. She has blue eyes and gray hair. 

Anyone with information regarding Matthews’ whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately. 

UPDATE: Around 1:15 a.m. Friday, CMPD said Matthews was located and "is okay."
