ATM stolen from gas station

ATM heists making headlines once again.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police are looking for two people after they stole an ATM from the Speedway convenience store on 10925 University Boulevard early Saturday morning

ATM thieves can be creative but police say the suspects took a simple route to remove the money-dispensing machine; driving a pick-up truck through the front door.

"They're idiots," said a man who stops at the store for the hotdogs. "They need to be put away, for a long time."

The store's manager told NBC Charlotte he could not comment because of a "no media policy" enforced by corporate.

It's the second ATM reported stolen this month. In Rock Hill, police say a truck used a chain to haul an ATM out of the Frugal MacDoogal liquor store.

In February, surveillance footage recorded two people trying to pry open an ATM with a blow torch.

The thieves took a faster route at the Speedway, speeding into the store and leaving a messy crime scene behind.

No injuries were reported since the incident occurred after hours and police are investigating.
