OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. (WLTX) -- The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is thanking the public for its help in finding a K-9 officer that went missing on Thursday.
Deputies say Jak, a 10-year-old Belgian Malinois K-9, was located Friday morning on Chisholm Ranch Drive near South Spring Street, which is near the city limits of Walhalla.
Officials say Jak appears to be in good shape and is being reunited with his handler.
Jak was discovered missing around 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning from the Walhalla area. He had last been seen on O’Dell Shoals Road, near Highway 28 and Lake Jemiki Road near Walhalla. After searching all day, deputies day they called off the search around 5 p.m. Thursday.
"We want to thank any of our citizens who called us to provide any tips and on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office, we are grateful for any assistance provided." says Jimmy Watt, public information officer for the Oconee County Sheriff's Office.
