East Charlotte schools placed on brief lockdown

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police in east Charlotte say an incident involving a stolen vehicle prompted a lockdown at two schools Tuesday morning.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers responded to a reported accident near Albemarle Road Elementary and Albemarle Road Middle School around 10 a.m. Police say a suspect struck an officer’s empty patrol car before fleeing to Snow White Lane and ditching the stolen vehicle.
