Ex-Chick-fil-A manager pleads guilty to child pornography

Cameron Franklin will spend the next 6-17 months in jail after pleading guilty to multiple criminal charges.

GASTONIA, N.C. -- A popular former Chick-fil-A of Belmont manager pleaded guilty on Tuesday to downloading child pornography and snapping a photo of a child using the restaurant's urinal.

Cameron Franklin will spend the next 6-17 months in jail after pleading guilty to multiple criminal charges.

Once he's released, he'll begin 60 months of supervised probation, and he must register as a sex offender for 30 years.

The judge also banned Franklin from ever returning to the Chick-fil-A of Belmont location.

"I know what I've done is wrong," Franklin said. "I've accepted full responsibility of my actions and accept fully the consequences."

His actions shocked practically every customer who met Franklin, including several police officers.

"When [officers] found the charges were outstanding, they themselves wanted to be the ones to serve him," Rick Beam, Franklin's attorney, said. "They know him, and they like him."

Prosecutor Debbie Gulledge said Franklin cooperated throughout the investigation, but she said his position as a manager made his crimes much more severe.

"He took advantage of a position of trust," Gulledge said.

Franklin concluded his public statement by promising to improve his behavior.

"I'm going to do whatever I have to do to make sure this never ever happens again," Franklin said.
