Lancaster store owner found shot to death, police say

LANCASTER, S.C. – Deputies in Lancaster are investigating after a man was shot and killed Thursday night.

According to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a reported shooting in the 200 block of Craig Manor Road around 11:30. The person who called 911 told dispatch that she heard screaming and gunshots near the White Oak Manor long-term care facility. 

When deputies arrived, they found 43-year-old Harnish Patel lying in the front yard of his home. Investigators say that Patel was suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. 

Detectives say that Patel was the owner of the Speedee Mart on Pageland Highway in Lancaster. According to investigators, it is believed that Patel was confronted by his killer when he arrived home after closing his store Thursday.
