Gastonia PD seeks domestic abuser

A man accused of assaulting several women across state lines is on the loose, police say.

GASTONIA, N.C. -- If you’ve seen Joseph Lee Boles, Gastonia Police Sergeant Nancy Capistran wants you to give her a call.

“Definitely want to have him apprehended,” she said.

Boles, 42, is accused of assaulting his girlfriend, leaving threatening messages and on one occasion, locking her up inside of a house.

“She believes the threats, we believe the threats, so we're definitely scared for her safety,” Capistran said.

It’s not the first time Boles has been in trouble with the law for assaulting women. In Florida, he was convicted of assaulting his then-girlfriend.

Police hope a Facebook post, which already has more than 100 shares, will lead them to their guy before someone else gets hurt.

“It could be a dangerous situation. We don't know how far this person can take it,” Capistran explained.

If you have any information about this man you can also call police anonymously. The number is (704) 866-3300.
