Hickory man charged with Dollar General robbery

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. – A Hickory man is in jail after deputies say he robbed an Iredell County Dollar General store Sunday.

According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Dollar General on Taylorsville Highway for a reported armed robbery. When authorities arrived on the scene, witnesses told them the suspect entered the store and began speaking with the clerk. The suspect asked for some cigarettes before allegedly telling the clerk he was robbing the store and that he had a gun.

Deputies said the clerk handed the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Gregory Allen Glisson Jr., the cash drawer before he ran from the store. During their investigation, deputies learned that Glisson attempted to get a ride to the Hickory area, going so far as asking to use a phone to call someone. When he was unable to reach someone on the phone, deputies said he pulled a gun and demanded a ride.

Glisson was located in Hickory shortly after midnight, according to investigators. He was also wanted in Hickory for an outstanding warrant and is a convicted felon. He was charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon.
