High speed chase ends in northeast Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A high speed chase early Wednesday morning ended with CMPD detaining two suspected armed robbers.

According to CMPD, around 1:54 a.m. officers attempted to stop a vehicle that they believed was involved in a high speed chase. They initially located the car in the area of Austin Drive and Monteith Drive in northeast Charlotte.

A high speed chase occurred after the car refused to pull over. 

The driver eventually stopped on the 4300 block of N. Tryon and two occupants were detained, police say.

This is an ongoing investigation. CMPD says the names and charges will be released at a later time.
