CMPD investigating homicide after finding 22-year-old shot

CMPD is investigating a homicide after they found a young man shot to death just outside uptown Sunday evening

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police began conducting a homicide investigation Sunday night after finding a 22-year-old lying in the street, dead from a gunshot wound.

Officers were called to the 1500 block of Waddell Street in north Charlotte in reference to shots being fired around 10:12 p.m. Sunday.

Upon arrival, officers found a car parked a block down on the side of the roadway. Abraham Malik Wallace, 22, was found lying in the street beside the car. He was pronounced deceased on scene due to a gunshot wound, CMPD said.

Multiple CMPD agencies responded and began an investigation into the apparent homicide.
