IREDELL COUNTY, S.C. -- Authorities are asking the public for help solving a January homicide case after new details emerged Tuesday.
An 80-year-old man was found dead inside his home on January 11.
Deputies discovered the body of Hugh Lee Moose after responding to a 911 hang up call from his Shiloh Road home.
Investigators said a man was spotted walking near Moose's home not long before he died. They described the man as white, about 5'10 between the ages of 25 to 35. He was seen wearing a Carhart style overalls and a dark colored backpack.
The investigation has been ongoing, however, authorities say a witness recently observed a full size SUV believed to be a Lincoln Navigator/Ford Expedition or similar style vehicle parked off the side of the road at the Third Creek Bridge on Shiloh Road around the time of Moose's death.
The Iredell County Sheriff's Office is attempting to find the vehicle and/or person in the car.
"The way I understand it, there wasn't no money taken or anything like that so I don't know what the deal is," said Moose's brother-in-law, Barry Majors.
Majors says he was with Moose no more than an hour before deputies found him dead.
"Maybe I should've stayed around with him, you don't know always wonder what you could've done but there's nothing i can do now i guess," he said.
Neigbors say they are concerned about their safet.
"I've never feared for my safety or my home or anything like that in the 3 years that I lived right here in this park and now it makes you wonder who is walking around," said neighbor Sandra Carter.
