Iredell man charged with statutory rape

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. – An Iredell County man was arrested after deputies say he sexually assaulted a child several times.

According to Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell, investigators received a tip on March 24in reference to the statutory rape of a child. Deputies identified Khali Amir Holmes as the suspect in the case.

Investigators say that Holmes had several prior encounters with the juvenile prior to the reported incident. Holmes was charged with statutory rape and four counts of statutory sexual offense of a child.

He was given a $300,000 bond.
