TOWNVILLE, S.C. -- At a community balloon release, the mother of 6-year-old Jacob Hall spoke out for the first time. Renae Hall thanked all those who prayed for her son.

"I feel Jacob with me, I feel this whole community with me. This is overwhelming. Words cannot express how I feel right now. I never could have imagined that so many could have loved one little boy from such a small town."

Jacob Hall was shot while playing on the playground at Townville Elementary. He was rushed to a hospital but died on Saturday.

A funeral service will be held this Wednesday. His mother is asking everyone dress up as a superhero to help honor the little boy she calls her "Angel." Batman was his favorite.

After the balloon release, Renae Hall said she saw a sign in the sky.

"There was one dark balloon lingering behind and that was my Jacob. Jacob was like, 'hey you guys, thank you. Thank you for loving me.'"

The funeral service will be held at Oakdale Baptist Church in Townville at 11 a.m.
