Kidnapping suspect found hiding in relative's attic

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man they say kidnapped his ex-girlfriend for the second time in just a few short months.

STANLEY, N.C. -- The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office has located and arrested the man they say kidnapped his ex-girlfriend for the second time in just a few short months.

Around 10:30 Wednesday, deputies were called to a home on Cowan's Ford Road after a man reported he had been assaulted by a man who broke into a residence and kidnapped a female from the home.

The first suspect was identified as Jacob Alan Houser, the ex-boyfriend of the female kidnapping victim. A second suspect, who authorities say stayed in the car during the incident, was described as a black male wearing an orange shirt and blue jeans.

Deputies searched the area of Houser's home but did not locate him. However, the kidnapping victim was located safe and deputies located Houser's alleged accomplice.

"It appears he was upset that she was talking with somebody else or with somebody else," Captain Tim Johnson said.

Thursday evening, deputies located Houser hiding in the attic of a relative's home, officials say.

He's charged with felony first-degree kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Houser also faces a number of other charges in connection to another incident back in mid-July.
