Known heroin trafficker arrested after 3-month long search

LENOIR, N.C. -- The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office Ice Unit ended a three-month investigation with the arrest of a known heroin trafficker.

The Ice Unit arrested 30-year-old Brian Keith Greene Sunday after an undercover operation netted him returning from Charlotte with five grams of "china white" heroin and 58 clonazepam pills. Agents have been monitoring Greene and suspected he made a trip to resupply.

On the return trip, Greene was stopped in his vehicle after a brief chase.

Greene is currently on parole for heroin and methamphetamine convictions. If convicted of the drug charges, Greene could face an additional minimum of seventy months in prison. The drugs have a street value of $3,176 according to the North Carolina Drug Guidelines.

"We are working diligently and effectively to stop the flow of heroin into our county," said Sheriff Alan C. Jones. "Heroin has claimed several lives over the last two years in Caldwell County."

Green was incarcerated in the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $150,000 secured bond. He has his first appearance in District Court in Lenoir County Monday.
