Loaded weapon found in student's backpack at Rocky River HS, principal says

MINT HILL, N.C. -- Parents received a letter from a local high school principal informing them a student was caught bringing a loaded weapon to campus Tuesday morning.

According to a parent message from Rocky River High School principal Erica Turner, a student was suspected of having a gun in their possession at school. The student was detained on campus and had their backpack searched. Following the search, officials found a loaded weapon.

No one was hurt, according to Turner's message.
