Lockdown lifted at York schools following report of possible gun

It was a scary day for many parents and students in York County after a weapon was reported on a school's campus Thursday.

YORK COUNTY, S.C. – Multiple schools in York County were placed on lockdown after deputies received reports of a possible weapon on campus Thursday. 

According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to York Intermediate School a little before 2:30 p.m. in reference to a weapon being found. After authorities searched the campus, they determined there was no weapon at the school. 

As a precaution, York Middle and Jefferson Elementary were also placed on lockdown and students were dismissed. 

Parents of students at York Intermediate School were told to pick up their children at York Middle School after the lockdown.
