Man arrested in NE Charlotte car-jacking

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Wednesday was a busy day for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

Officers responded to a shooting on Central and Prospect at 9:25 am. Investigators say the shooting victim flagged down an ambulance and told the paramedics he had been shot.

About 20 minutes later, officers were on the scene of a hit-and-run on the John Belk Freeway. Investigators say the driver was in a stolen vehicle he car-jacked near the Rosedale Plantation on North Tryon.

The person hit in the crash was taken to CMC with minor injuries.

Police arrested Chadwick Pearson in the case. He is also suspected of stealing a Dodge Charger on Catherine Simmons Avenue Wednesday morning.

Later Wednesday morning, the SWAT team responded to a standoff in the 4500 block of Hamilton Circle. An armed man threatened suicide and SWAT officers negotiated a peaceful resolution.

These are all active and ongoing investigations. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact CMPD.
