Man charged in boat crash that killed USC student

Clarendon County, SC (WLTX) - The Department of Natural Resources is charging a man in connection with a Lake Marion boat crash that killed a University of South Carolina student.

Chad Morris, 38, was booked on a charge of reckless homicide and failure to render aid. He's since been released on a personal recognizance bond.

Back on July 4th, officials say 21-year-old Hailey Joanne Bordeaux of Sumter was killed after two boats collided around 1:00 a.m. near Scarborough Landing.

investigators say Morris was operating the boat that collided with the craft Bordeaux was in. Afterwards, investigators say he left the scene of the accident without helping.
