Man injured in southwest Charlotte shooting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police in southwest Charlotte are investigating after a man was shot Monday night.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers responded to a reported shooting in the 2800 block of Toomey Avenue just before 10 p.m. The victim, identified as an adult male, was taken to CMC-Main with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Police say the injuries sustained by the victim are not considered life-threatening.

Investigators say some people in a vehicle got into an argument with people in the yard of a home on Toomey Avenue before someone opened fire as the vehicle sped away.

Police believe the victim was an innocent bystander and was not involved in the argument.
