Man jailed for sexually assaulting 2 people, including minor, police say

UNION COUNTY, N.C. – A man is in jail after investigators say he sexually assaulted two people, including a minor.

According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, Felipe Carrera Santiago, AKA Felipe Santiago Cruz, 36, is facing a second-degree sex offense charge and an attempted second-degree sex offense for crimes against two victims.

Police say that Sanitago was deported by the Department of Homeland Security in 2010 and he does not have the legal status to remain in the United States. Authorities say that DHS has filed an immigration detainer and that Santiago will remain in police custody pending disposition of his charges in Union County.
