ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. -- Deputies say a man shot his neighbor after a dispute involving a flashlight shine.
The Rowan County Sheriff's Office responded to a call in the 4500 block of Mount Hope Church Road Saturday night. Upon arrival, deputies found a 35-year-old shot in the knee.
Following investigations, it was revealed that the incident began as a dispute between neighbors. The dispute began over allegations that the neighbor was shining a light on the 35-year-old man's residence. The 35-year-old man and his wife reportedly went to the neighbor's house to confront the homeowner about the flashlight shining, and then the shot was fired.
Deputies seized a handgun from the neighbor. Officials did not say if the neighbor was formally charged in the shooting incident.
The man was transported to Northeast Medical Center for injuries that are believed to be not life-threatening.
