Man shot and killed inside Charlotte club

A man was shot and killed early Sunday morning in a nightclub in North Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- CMPD is conducting a homicide investigation after a man was shot inside a club near NoDa.

Police say they were called to the Club Lust at 3:27 a.m. Sunday and found 34-year-old Gregory Spearman suffering from a gunshot wound. The club is located on the 100 block of Atando Avenue in the North Tryon Division.

Spearman was transported to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Detectives with the homicide unit said early Sunday morning that they were canvassing the area to determine whether there are any witnesses to the incident.

CMPD says that Spearman's family has been notified of his death.

A drive-by shooting occurred just after midnight on Friday, about two miles up the road from Club Lust. Police say at this time they do not believe the two shootings are connected.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
