Man 'unfit' to stand trial in Gastonia murder

GASTONIA, N.C. -- A Gastonia man accused of killing a woman just weeks after he himself was shot has been declared unfit to stand trial.

Eduardo Rojas made a court appearance Thursday morning where a judge ordered him to undergo psychiatric treatment before his murder case proceeds.

Gastonia Police say Rojas killed Amoritta Starr in the bathroom of a home off West 10th Street back in May

In mid-April, police arrested and charged 62-year-old Robert Stauss with assault with a deadly weapon and attempted first-degree murder in the shooting of 40-year-old Eduardo Rojas. Rojas was critically injured but survived the shooting.

It's still not clear if the two incidents are connected.
