Mooresville man charged with murder after alleged hit-and-run

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – A Mooresville man is facing a murder charge after deputies say he ran over another man after leaving a party Saturday.

According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a man being struck by a vehicle on Brook Glen Drive in Mooresville on June 3. When authorities arrived on the scene, they found a 32-year-old man lying in the roadway suffering from injuries from the alleged incident.

Detectives determined that the driver of the vehicle, Davidson Christopher Hollister, failed to slow down or stop after hitting the victim.

Investigators say that Hollister, the victim, and several other people were at a party when Hollister and the victim had a confrontation. Police believe the conflict was over a female at the party that both men knew. A witness told police that Hollister exchanged words with the victim after getting in his truck.

The witness went on to say that Hollister drove backwards into the grass, then forward onto the roadway. Deputies say evidence then suggests that Hollister ran over the victim.

Hollister was charged with second-degree murder and felony hit-and-run. Investigators say additional charges are expected in the case.
