MORGANTON, N.C. -- A Burke County woman accused of allowing her three-year-old son to freeze to death has been granted a lower bond.
Jamie Basinger and her attorney appeared in court Monday afternoon where a judge reduced Basinger's bond from $100,000 to $55,000.
She has spent more than a month in jail on felony child abuse and involuntary manslaughter charges after deputies said they found her son frozen to death on Basinger's porch.
Search warrants later said Basinger admitted to using meth and marijuana in the days prior to her son's death.
The father of the three-year-old spoke in favor of a lower bond for Basinger in court.
