CMPD: Man shot during apparent robbery in south Charlotte

Police are trying to track down two people in connection with a robbery that escalated into a shooting.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating after at least one gunman opened fire at an apartment and three vehicles during an apparent robbery early Monday. 

According to CMPD, officers responded to a 911 call in the 600 block of Archdale Drive just before 5 a.m. Two men at the scene told police they were walking to their car in the parking lot when two men attacked them.

One of the victims was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. CMPD said that person was taken to CMC-Main by Medic and is in critical condition. The second victim suffered a minor facial injury after being punched by one of the suspects. 

Police at the scene said one occupied apartment and three vehicles were shot during the encounter. Investigators said no one in the apartment was injured and the vehicles were unoccupied. CMPD said that the preliminary investigation doesn't indicate that the apartment or vehicles were specifically targeted by the suspects.
