One in custody after pedestrian killed in Steele Creek hit-and-run

CMPD took one person into custody after a pedestrian was hit and killed in southwest Charlotte Wednesday night.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – One person is in police custody after a pedestrian was killed in a Steele Creek hit-and-run Wednesday night. 

According to Medic, the crash happened at the intersection of Shopton Road West and Millers Creek Lane at South Tryon. Police at the scene said a pedestrian walking along Shopton Road West was struck by a vehicle. That person, who has only been identified as a male, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The suspect vehicle was located about a block away from the scene of the crash. Investigators have not identified the person charged in connection with the crash.
