CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C -- Concord Police, Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office, and the FBI are investigating after an anonymous threat was made to Cabarrus County high schools on Thursday morning.
According to police, the threat referenced 'explosive devices'. The decision to evacuate schools was made on Thursday by Superintendent Dr. Christopher Lowder after consulting with law enforcement.
Although the threat did not appear credible, it was sufficient in detail to warrant the early dismissal of all Cabarrus County high schools.
Searches were conducted in the schools but no evidence related to the threat was found.
A criminal investigation remains underway.
