22-year-old woman charged in homicide north of uptown

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police charged a 22-year-old woman in connection with a homicide that took place just north of uptown Tuesday.

Kyerra Guinn is charged with murder and felony conspiracy, according to CMPD. Detectives transferred Guinn to the custody of Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.

Officers were called to LaSalle Street and Beatties Ford Road around 12:23 p.m. Tuesday, in reference to an assault with a deadly weapon. When officers arrived on scene they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to Carolinas Medical Center by ambulance where he was pronounced dead. CMPD identified the victim as 37-year-old Germany Joaquin Byers.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.
