Police: Rock Hill Subway robbed at gunpoint

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Police in Rock Hill are investigating after a masked man allegedly robbed a Subway restaurant Monday night.

According to Rock Hill Police, officers were dispatched to the Subway on Main Street West a little after 9 p.m. in reference to a reported armed robbery call from an employee. While en route, 911 dispatch received a second call from the store, telling police a masked man robbed the store at gunpoint.

When officers arrived at the store, they spoke with two female employees that called 911. One of the employees said that an unidentified man entered the store with a silver handgun. The employee told police that the man pointed the gun at the cashier and demanded they open the register.

When the employees opened the cash register, investigators say the man took all of the cash from the register and demanded access to the safe. Police say when the man was told employees couldn’t access the safe, he began to panic and took the employees to a bathroom and made them stay there while he left.

The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 with wide reading glasses. He was last seen wearing a red beanie cap and gray fleece scarf over his face with a black leather jacket and blue jeans.
