Shelby police searching for homicide suspect

Detectives in Shelby are investigating after a man was shot and killed Sunday evening.

SHELBY, N.C. – Detectives in Shelby are searching for an accused murderer after a man was fatally shot Sunday. 

According to Shelby Police, officers were dispatched to Carolinas Healthcare Systems Cleveland in reference to a patient with a gunshot wound around 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The victim, identified as Jimmy Dean Robbs Jr., was brought to the emergency room by a personal vehicle where he later died, police said. 

Investigators determined the shooting occurred in the 500 block of Suttle Street in Shelby. Detectives named 26-year-old Davaughia O’Bryant Snipes as the suspect in the case. Authorities have obtained a warrant for first-degree murder against Snipes.
