Convenience store worker charged with stealing over $1,200 in lottery tickets

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. – An Iron Station woman was arrested after deputies say she stole more than $1,200 worth of lottery tickets from the convenience store she worked at.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Brittany Chantais Orgeron, 26, was caught on surveillance video placing lottery tickets inside her purse between March 17 and April 4. Store management told investigators they had discovered that several lottery tickets were missing and that a few scratched-off tickets were placed back in the slot to be sold.

Deputies say that two of the stolen tickets, one valued at $500 and the other at $50, were redeemed on March 25. Two other tickets of undisclosed values were redeemed on March 17, police say. Detectives say that Orgeron admitted to taking the tickets in an interview with police. According to police, the alleged theft happened at the Jetway convenience store on Highway 27.

Oregeron was charged with one felony count each of larceny by servants and possessing stolen goods. She was arrested and given a $3,000 bond.
