Silver Alert issued for missing 81-year-old Charlotte man

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Silver Alert has been issued for a missing 81-year-old Charlotte man.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers responded to a report of a missing person in the 4700 block of Kenmont Drive a little after 9 a.m. Sunday. Officers spoke to the daughter of Vester Crawford, who told police that he left the home traveling to a location in Jefferson, South Carolina and did not make it to his destination or return home.

Police say that Crawford suffers from cognitive issues. He is described as a black male, approximately 6-foot-4 and weighs 200 pounds. He has short gray hair and brown eyes. He was last seen driving his 2006 black Ford Expedition SUV with North Carolina license plate ZVD-7395.

Anyone with information regarding Mr. Crawford’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or dial 911.  

UPDATE: CMPD says Crawford was found Tuesday in Savannah, Georgia. His family went to pick him up.
