Arrest made in southwest Charlotte motel shooting

Police in southwest Charlotte are investigating after a man was reportedly shot at a hotel on South Tryon Street Tuesday morning.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrested a man in connection with a Tuesday morning shootin at a southwest Charlotte motel. 

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers responded to a 911 call for a reported robbery and assault at the Motel 6 in the 4400 block of South Tryon Street. When officers arrived at the scene, the 911 caller was not there, police said.

Shortly after that time, investigators say a man arrived at Carolinas Medical Center-Main with a gunshot wound. Detectives believe the man was shot at the Motel 6 during the reported incident but left the scene before authorities arrived. Police said the victim suffered life-threatening injuries during the shooting. 

CMPD has not identified the suspect arrested. According to investigators, the suspect's identity is being withheld until he is formally charged following further investigation.
