Statesville man charged with sexually assaulting 7-year-old

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. – An Iredell County man was arrested after deputies said he sexually assaulted a 7-year-old girl.

According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, authorities in Catawba County received a tip about possible sexual abuse of a child in July. Catawba County DSS alleged the abuse to have taken place in Iredell County by a family member’s boyfriend.

The suspect, identified as Thomas Wilson, 46, was also identified by two more victims who came forward with allegations against him. One of those victims, as well as the 7-year-old in Catawba County, were interviewed by detectives.

Investigators charged Wilson with three felony counts of statutory sex offense with a child and one count of indecent liberties. Wilson was also charged with a count of indecent liberties by authorities in Rockingham County.

Wilson was arrested and held on a $1 million bond in Iredell County.
