ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. -- Three Rowan County residents arrested by local and federal officials in drug trafficking investigation.
According to police, the Rowan County Sheriff's Office began investigating a heroin trafficking operation in September headed by 35-year-old Jarvis Lamont Pate, or "Star," who was a convicted felon with a long criminal history.
Throughout September and October, investigators purchased heroin from Pate as well as 37-year-old Kimberly Michelle Guske who was getting heroin from Pate, police say.
After pulling over and searching Pate's car, police say they found 12 grams of "China White" heroin concealed in Pate's underwear.
Police also obtained a search warrant for Pate's home where they found three grams of methamphetamine ice, suspected heroin, scales and other drug paraphernalia.
Guske was arrested inside the residence and 45-year-old James Arthur Smith was arrested after police found heroin on him. Additionally, 33 grams of methamphetamine ice were found in the trunk of Smith's car.
Pate was charged with a number of drug-related charged and placed under a $1,000,000 secured bond. Additional charges are pending. Guske and Smith were both charged with drug related crime and each have a $10,000 bond.
