West Charlotte bar fire ruled arson

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Investigators said a fire that severely damaged a west Charlotte sports bar early Wednesday was intentionally set.

According to Charlotte Fire, emergency crews responded to Bullies Sports Bar on Wilkinson Boulevard around 2:15 a.m. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to contain the fire, which caused extensive damage inside, investigators said.

The owner of the bar said he opened the sports bar in May. He was notified of the fire and came to the scene to see how bad the damage was. Bullies will remain closed until further notice.

Police have not named a suspect in connection with the arson.
