CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The City of Charlotte is about 150 days away from the Democratic National Convention.
On Wednesday the DNC Committee and several other groups made a special donation to area kids. A roof-top playground was dedicated Wednesday morning at Levine Children's Hospital.
The playground will help brighten treatment for the thousands of kids who go through Levine every year.
“From day one, the DNCC has made it a priority to be a part of the Charlotte community and to give back to the city through service,” said Steve Kerrigan, CEO of the Democratic National Convention Committee in a statement.
The playground should be completed by the time of the DNC in September. Credit unions around the nation raised $300,000 to pay for the project.
“Upgrading the rooftop space at Levine Children’s Hospital is a great way to aid in a child’s recovery. We’re honored to participate in this project, which will impact so many families not only in Charlotte, but across the region," Kerrigan added.
