CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Elephants and donkeys have taken over Charlotte's EpiCentre—well, sort of.
It's a special DNC-themed scavenger hunt that you can take part in starting Monday.
Charlotte's EpiCentre is a big place—you might say big enough to hide a donkey or an elephant.
“People said, ‘What, you’re hiding like a real elephant?’ I said ‘No, obviously not,’” said Discovery Place Communications Manager Logan Stewart.
The Discovery Place was busy Monday hiding 24 elephants and donkeys. Each one is about four inches tall. Discovery Place teamed up with the EpiCentre to coordinate the politically themed scavenger hunt for the public.
“I realized they were not to scale so that was a good thing. We’re big enough we could hide one elephant, maybe,” said Epicentre spokesman Ed Camp.
NewsChannel 36 went along as they traipsed through kitchens, in and out of elevators and restaurants, trying to find the best hiding places.
“It’s like, do we want it easy or do we want it hard? If we want it hard, we have to really think. Easy have to really think, too,” Camp Said.
David Kinsey brought his family to hunt for the political animals because when you find them, each one is good for tickets to Discovery Place.
Stewart offered one hint.
“They’re all over the place. They could be in a movie theatre, a restaurant. They could be hiding, out in the open. They could be in a bush, you don’t know.”
