CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Musician James Taylor did a sound check in uptown for CarolinaFest on Monday morning.
Taylor took sometime after his rehearsal to talk to NewsChannel 36 about his thoughts on the Democratic National Convention and Charlotte.
"It's just great to be apart of the convention party," Taylor said of the DNC. "The celebration and commitment to the campaign, and doing everything we can to keep Barack Obama in the White House for another four years is important."
Taylor expressed his admiration for Charlotte as the host city for the DNC.
"It feels like coming home, it's great," Taylor said of Charlotte. "Barack Obama is my favorite president by head and shoulders, I love this man, and I'll do anything for him."
The North Carolina native was rehearsing at Trade and Tryon streets in front of a small crowd late Monday morning. Taylor is set to take the main stage in uptown tonight from 5:15 p.m. to 6:1 5 p.m.
Organizers said they expect 30,000 visitors for CarolinaFest.
