CHARLOTTE, N.C. --  A small group of stragglers missed the deadline to get into the Democratic National Convention on Thursday night and were left on the outside looking in.

After being told they were late, the few ticket holders lined the VIP entrance and waited for admission into the building.

The DNC seating arrangement at Time Warner Cable Arena accommodated about 24,000 people, arena officials said.

When seats were filled, arena personnel closed all the doors into the building.

Thursday night's convention lineup included President Obama, Vice President Biden, Dr. Jill Biden and many other well-known Democratic Party officials and celebrities.

The event was originally scheduled to be held outdoors at Bank of America Stadium but was moved indoors due to the threat of severe storms.
