CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The wait was worth it to folks outside the campaign office on West Boulevard and Remount Road, where some stood in line for hours to get their chance to see President Obama speak at Bank of America Stadium.

Asked how long she would wait, Akasia Hemphill said, “All day, all night.”

Greg Gavin laughed about waiting two hours in line.  He agreed he might wait even more.. but not all night.

That’s exactly how long Sheila Moore waited – since 9:30 Friday night.   “To have a chance to go to the Democratic Convention and support Barack Obama, and hoping the next Presidential election, that he’ll stay President," she said.

Campaign staffers won’t say how many tickets are available statewide, or even how many of the nearly 74,000 seats at the stadium will be open for the speech on the last night of the Convention.

They’d only say that thousands of people standing in line statewide this weekend would be among the “tens of thousands” attending.

A sign on the West Blvd. office door late Saturday night said “OUT OF TICKETS,” but press spokesman Cameron French said it was erroneous.  More tickets would be available at 10 o’clock Sunday morning.

Dan Lieb waited four and a half hours Saturday afternoon before snagging a pair of tickets.  It was worth it, he said.  “This made me feel so much better now that I have them.”

Sheila Moore’s all-night stay paid off too.

The offices will be open again Sunday, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. – or until tickets really run out – for people who still want to see the speech.
