CHARLOTTE, N.C. – More than 6,000 delegates were welcomed to Charlotte Sunday night at parties across the city.
The North Carolina delegation partied at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. For organizers, Sunday night was all about showing the delegates a little bit about the Queen City, southern hospitality and showing them a good time.
Just before the parties started NewsChannel 36 had a chance to check out the Mint Museum and ran into some of the entertainment—local cheerleaders practicing.
There was also be a marching band and a group of local cloggers—80 performers strutting their stuff for 1,000 guests—and delegations from five different states at the Mint Museum.
“We want people to really enjoy Charlotte,” said local event planner Anne Markey. “[We] really want them to see how much fun it can be."
