CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- There are some obvious signs that a big convention is coming to Charlotte.
We’re talking actual signs -- announcing a convention is coming to town.
Tracy Russ is the chief marketing officer for Charlotte in 2012 and said, “You will begin to see signs and banners all over Charlotte. The idea is to welcome the world to this community.”
And expect it to be big and bold.
“Orange, purple, green that represent the diversity of this area and of this city,” said Russ.
The host committee is trying to tell the world about Charlotte.
“What we’re trying to show is the diversity and the energy of this community brought to life via the signage and banner program,” Russ added.
Phase Three Media is a Charlotte company that’s printing a lot of the signs.
“Right now we’re doing four signs every 20 minutes, so we’ll do approximately 900 signs in seven days,” said company vice president Jim Cannata said.
The design and print company is actually making the signs that will make sure Charlotte's guests don't get lost.
“Most of the signs are for re-location of bus stations, directional signage, just telling people how to get around the city,” Cannata said.
And now that we're just two weeks away, he said look for lots more.
“Signage is always the last thing that gets done,” Cannata said.
