CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- You can't even buy it yet, but NewsChannel 36 got a sneak peek at all the Democratic National Convention merchandise that will soon be on sale to commemorate this historic time for Charlotte.

There is a little something for everyone: Shot glasses, oven mitts, Obama nail polish and even special convention barbecue sauces.

The host city is well represented too. A local designer won a contest and his art is everywhere.

“We turned (his design) into a t-shirt. We used a local producer of t-shirts that used cotton grown in North Carolina,” said Suzi Emmerling of the host committee.

Everything in the store is made in America, much of it made right here in the tarheel state.

The store is on Tryon Street, in the same building as the Chamber of Commerce, and they expect to see 1,000 visitors a day.

“I think anybody visiting Charlotte will want to come in here and take a piece of the convention home with them and hopefully a piece of Charlotte as well,” said Allie Thomas with the Chamber of Commerce. “There’s a lot of things that have fallen into place just in the last few weeks. Really fun to see everything finally coming together that we've been talking about for a year now. Really exciting.”

The store officially opens to the public Wednesday.
