GASTONIA, N.C. -- Two dogs were killed in a Gastonia house fire Wednesday morning.
The Gastonia Fire Department said they were called to a home off of West Airline Avenue around 10 a.m.
When firefighters arrived on scene the house was engulfed in flames.
The firefighters were able to knock down the flames in about 10 minutes, but the house was a total loss, according to fire officials.
There were total of five pets in the home, but only two managed to escape. Officials said two dogs and a chinchilla were killed in the fire.
No person was injured during the fire.
The house had an estimated value of $28,000. The Red Cross is assisting the family, officials said.
